Encryptress ("Encryptress," "we," "our," or "us") provides cybersecurity, privacy, and digital safety services to content creators, influencers, activists, and others with a public online presence. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through our website, our newsletter, and our services. Confidentiality is central to our work: we collect only what we need, use it only to serve you, and never sell it.
1. ScopeThis Privacy Policy applies to:
- Visitors to our website
- Anyone who contacts us or requests our intake form
- Newsletter subscribers
- Clients who engage us for services
Client engagements may also be governed by a separate written agreement. Where that agreement provides additional confidentiality protections, those terms apply.
2. Information We CollectWe collect the following categories of information:
- Contact Information: your email address and the message you send through our contact form.
- Intake Information: details you provide when requesting services, such as the platforms you use and the security concerns you want addressed.
- Engagement Information: information shared during our work together, which may include account names, aliases, exposed personal information we locate on your behalf, and details of security incidents you have experienced.
- Billing Information: details needed to invoice and receive payment for services. Payments are processed by our payment provider, and we do not store full card numbers.
- Newsletter Preferences: whether you have opted in to receive our newsletter.
- Technical Information: data such as IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically by our website and form providers to operate the site, maintain security, and prevent spam.
- Public Source Information: as part of exposure assessments and cleanup work, and only at a client's request, we search publicly available sources such as data broker sites, public records, social platforms, and breach notification services for information about that client. We use this information solely to assess and reduce the client's exposure.
Please do not send passwords or sensitive personal details through our website form. Any sensitive information needed for an engagement is collected later through a secure intake process.
3. How We Use Your InformationWe use personal information to:
- Respond to inquiries and send our client intake form
- Provide and deliver the services you request
- Locate and request removal of exposed personal information on your behalf
- Communicate about your engagement, including scheduling and billing
- Send our newsletter, if you have opted in
- Protect our website and services against spam, fraud, and abuse
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use client information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the services you request.
4. How We Share Your InformationWe do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: trusted providers that help us operate our website, communications, newsletter, scheduling, and payments. They may use your information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
- Removal and Takedown Requests: when you authorize us, we submit removal or takedown requests to data brokers, platforms, or other parties. These requests include only the information needed to complete them.
- Legal Requirements: when required by law, court order, or other valid legal process. Where legally permitted, we will notify you before disclosing your information.
5. Confidentiality and Data SecurityWe treat all client information as confidential. We protect personal information with administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption, access controls, and multi-factor authentication, and we limit access to what each engagement requires. We do not publish the details of our internal security practices, because doing so would weaken them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we hold your information to the same standard we recommend to our clients.
6. Data RetentionWe keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Contact form submissions are kept as long as needed to respond to you and manage any resulting engagement. Client engagement records are kept for the duration of the engagement and a limited period afterward for legal, tax, and recordkeeping purposes, then securely deleted. Newsletter subscribers remain on our list until they unsubscribe.
7. NewsletterThe newsletter checkbox on our contact form is checked by default. Uncheck it before submitting if you only want a response to your request. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you may opt out at any time.
